My son has been to Cookie Cutters 2-3x and has had at least 8 haircuts in his life (once a month since he turn 10mth). For the first time today he reeeeally had a hard time with the stylist. I’m sure there was more to it and it’s not her fault entirely, but I did want to share that (1) she smelled strongly of cigarette smoke which is very off putting to a pregnant woman and toddler, (2) she didn’t really take time to build a relationship with my son (other stylists have), (3) we ended. Up not using a cape (we’ve always used a cape, I had NO IDEA how messy it was going to be, we had to cancel plans after the cut and both of us had to bathe) and (3) she did a teeeeeerrible cut. I asked to stay long on top and just trim the sides. She took off everything on the top, and shortened his bangs so much I had to ask her if she was going to stop because he was looking bald. She also couldn’t see what she was doing probably because he was moving so much and as a result his bangs are super uneven, she missed hair on his neck (there’s a line where hair starts and stops) and she missed hair around his ears (I know that part is hard, it’s the part I told her mattered most). He came out looking like a cave man, it’s offically his worst cut to date. I would strongly recommend that if a child is too upset for a stylist to feel she can do a good job she should STOP. She totally messed up his hair and now we have to possibly loose a paid photo shoot because of her. I take partial responsibility because i should have told her to just stop instead of trying to trust her. I don’t know her past experiences so I don’t know if she can handle a squirmy kid. My input is that she can’t and had she recommended we stop and try coming back another time to finish I would have agreed, but I was really hoping she was experienced enough to know her own limits. We’ve had great experiences with other stylists and we may consider coming back, but certainly will make sure she is not our stylist.
