I have been to JD Academy many times and have always had a wonderful experience from the front staff to the student providing the service until today. I was using a 2nd of 3 purchased living social treatment. The student suggested a different treatment which was the same price as what was scheduled so I agreed. I also added a treatment. The entire experience of receiving the skin care treatment was amazing. The student and teacher were professional and kind. I ran into problems when checking out. I was told they did not have record of remaining two treatments in their system (I had been told it was entered at last visit). They made me wait to talk to someone and then was asked to produce the voucher. I showed the voucher had been redeemed. I was asked to show when it was purchased. I explained I had been assured the vouchers never expire. Without going into further detail, I was treated disrespectfully and they took up 45 minutes of my time. In the end, they honored my voucher.

I feel like the color prices are way too high. $60 for six foils is outrageous. I sat there 3 1/2 hours. I have consistently received horrific haircuts as well so there needs to be a price adjustment for the time and the prices should reflect that. . I could have received six foils add a professional salon for that cost and spent a quarter of the time sitting.

Overall, my experience was pleasant. The color came out a little darker than I expected which is ok, as the toner will fade and make the color a bit brighter. I askrd to have my hair layered but when I got home I noticed it still looked longer than I expected. I reviewed the cut and noticed the ends were angled in the opposite direction than they should have resulting in the shorter layers being hidden and exposing the long pieces. It was getting late and I’m sure my stylist was tired from working on my hair for hours and forgot to detail the cut and recommend products I could take home. I’m familiar with Redken products so I asked to purchase some extreme conditioning products to take home. You have an awesome team of students and instructors. The error made with the layered cut is easily correctable which makes a great teaching moment for the student. I still had an awesome experience. Keep up the good work and thank you for spending the entire day on my hair. I hope this project helped with your student’s development.

I felt considering how much time goes into sitting there for a student to work on you which is over double or triple an experienced person should reflect less expensive coloring prices. $50 for a partial highlight is more than a Groupon for example. Additionally, my haircut was only $18 but my stylist who graduates next week had me stand up and she cut 1 inch across the bottom. She did not trim any where else in my hair, did not add layers or texture. Even a $20 haircut at Supercuts would have been more cost effective. Overall I was very happy with the outcome of my color I just felt the price did not warrant how many hours I sat there. I could get a cut, color, highlights for $70 on Groupon and be in and out within an hour and a half and receive a much more experienced outcome. on a positive note everyone at the salon was absolutely friendly, a couple of loud personal conversations using foul language but the overall salon was lovely and the instructors were super sweet and helpful. The salon was very appealing as well cosmetically.

Less than one month ago I had a facial and waxing treatment and paid $29.00 today I had a facial only and paid $65.00 I feel that the prices need to be consistent. Also, seems to be lack of coverage of teachers to students. That’s a loud conversation overheard while I was in my treatment room about covering students by staff. Best said in private space. Thanks

I felt miss lead by instructor again on my return to fix. They charged me $60 more and I didn’t get the full crown so the color in back is not the same and asked 2 times to see if the roots would be darker and they Ayer still on the red color
