I honestly was horrified with the haircut as I knew the stylist had cut too short in the back. She had a perfect length that she started with and then sectioned it again and as soon as she cut in the back I saw it was too short and knew it would shrink more. I then reminded her she wanted shoulder length. My daughter wanted a shoulder length long bob. She has wavy hair. Both of my children were receiving haircuts at the same time at opposite sides of the room, I felt I should stand with my 4-year-old at first because she’s younger and can’t speak for herself as well. The hair stylist with my eldest child did come over for a moment and I showed her the photo of a style we liked. She must have had a unique style in mind of her own based on the photo I showed her, I'm not sure. At the very beginning of the haircut she had sectioned the hair and the length she first cut was perfect but she continued cutting even after I reminded her shoulder length she cut it even shorter and said this would be a "more dramatic" style, we didn't ask for dramatic. I don't feel dramatic is appropriate for a seven-year-old. We wanted a LOB or long bob and what she cut was a very uneven, poorly blended stacked bob. Very extreme and dramatic, my daughter’s hair was mid to lower back in length before the cut, the back of her hair is now above the nape of her neck! I did not feel I was able to express my dissatisfaction for this haircut in front of my children as I did not want my daughter to feel bad about her haircut. She was excited but I’m more concerned what will happen when she gets to school or after we wash her hair the first time. I couldn't stop the stylist after she cut it too short because I didn't want my child to know there was an issue or a problem because I didn't want her to feel self-conscious or have a complex over the shortness of her hair, so I told her how beautiful she looked and how easy it would be to care for her hair so she didn't start to worry. The back of her hair is entirely too short and with her waves it sticks out funny in the back. We do not wake up early to give her a blow out with a round brush before school, this stacked bob is just not what we had expected. The hairstylist was friendly and cheerful; however, I feel she should have made sure to go over the hairstyle with a parent before cutting into the hair especially with it so short. I did show her a photo of the cut my daughter wanted before she started, we expected it to be one length across in the back and not stacked. I appreciate her talking to my daughter and maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor. Thankfully my child’s hair will grow back.
