I will start with the good. Chiamaka gave me a haircut and style and was absolutely amazing. She gave me exactly what I asked for and more. I highly recommend her for haircuts. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for my experience with the colorists, Sherry. I went to her in July of last year and asked for highlights to blend some clip in extensions I use occasionally. Instead she gave me a full foiliage and turned me into a blonde. Luckily, I ended up liking it and decided to have it redone this week before having a baby and newborn pictures done. When I got to the salon I showed her the picture of my hair after she had done it last time and the extensions I use, saying I wanted the same thing done. I reiterated several times what I wanted with an emphasis on how I ended up liking the blonde because it concealed my gray hairs better as adding color to my hair never lasts. Several hours later when the foils were removed and I noticed my hair did not look anything like the images shown, I found out she had done highlights and lowlights. She made a few excuses for why she did this, and offered to fix it to make it more blonde. I agreed only to discover all she did this time was add a few blonde highlights to my hair. The problem is, if she could NOT do the color I wanted, she should have conveyed that at the beginning of the appointment and asked if I would be ok with her plan for MY hair. Instead she did what she wanted. I find this extremely unprofessional, and it happened both times I saw her. When I called this morning, because I had been charged for a full foiliage and explained the problem, I was basically told that I could get a refund (I went this route and got 140 of the 290 I spent back) or could have her try again with my hair (not an option since it’s just more damage to my hair from someone who has shown three times she will not listen to what I want) I was told I could not go back to the salon since I was refunded money, which I wouldn’t have done anyway after this experience. I was also told that the colorist will try to protect my hair. Which I found laughable. I consider what she did damage to my hair since it isn’t what I wanted and to get what I want now from another salon could actually damage my hair. Now I get to have newborn pictures made with hair that I genuinely don’t like. In short, for the amount of money you spend ($290 for color, plus $45 for a gloss and $85 for the cut) I firmly believe you should be listened to and communicated with PRIOR to any service being done that CAN and WILL damage your hair. *the picture shows my hair after this most recent appointment (left) and the hair I asked for from last year (right)
