Hairstylists need to be more prepared to service children with special needs (ex: unable to follow directions “put head down” or unable to communicate verbally.)

Response from Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids

Thank you for your feedback and we certainly regret you and your child did not have the experience we are known for as we successfully work with special needs children every day in our salon. We hope you will return and give us another chance to help your child.

Went today for my son’s second haircut accompanied by a mommy haircut. Second time going to Cookie Cutters but first time going to this location. From the moment we walked in everything was very clean and neat, we were greeted once we walked in through the doors for our appointments. I had asked for my tips to be cut, we settled on an inch coming off and I asked for something in the front to help my postpartum baby hairs blend in a little. Asked for the top of my son’s hair to be cut and the sides to be shortened with clippers. When we first went to Cookie Cutters and my son (who just turned 1) had cried, they asked if I wanted to sit with him to make it easier for him. This time they didn’t, however I figured it was because I was getting my haircut at the same time. But my husband was there and he wasn’t given the option, I really should’ve asked, but the stylist said “It’ll be fast”. When she was finished she had asked how his hair looked, from my seat everything looked fine. The stylist that did my hair cut the inch off but didn’t touch the front, again I didn’t say anything because by that point I just wanted to leave before my son became hangry and turned into the hulk. When it was time to pay I asked if it was the family day since that is the main reason we came in this specific day (Tuesday), and the price didn’t seem to reflect it. She said “oh let me check” and asked the other stylist. She confirmed it was but it just seems like they should all know when their specials are. But again, no harm done; we went today for the deal and because we wanted to trim my son’s hair for our family photo shoot in two days. As soon as we got home, I had notice that the front of my hair was longer than the back; whatever, no biggie but definitely not worth a $40+ price tag. I could’ve done that myself however and my OCD would’ve ensured it was all even. I then decided to inspect my son’s hair up close… and boy she was quick for a reason. Above his right ear she used the clippers to cut the hair as expected, but left a triangle. The other side looks a little more even. The back is NOT even at all; and the front looks fine if it’s combed over to the side, but if it isn’t it’s completely uneven. The first time was a great experience, took their time. This time, we were in at 9 and on the road by 9:27. My son was not fussing and moving around like crazy; he simply was crying while holding the fidget toy the stylist handed him so it’s not like it can be blamed on him being uncooperative. Very disappointed, especially since the first time was such a great experience for him, but I guess it all depends on the location. Would definitely NEVER recommend an adult come get a haircut here. If we ever decide to return for my son, we will make sure we go to the Norterra location.

Hayley, who cut my daughter’s hair was a very sweet person but not a good stylist. I asked for her to take about 3 inches off the length, which she did and it was ok. Then I asked her to trim her bangs so they were just above her eyebrows. Her bangs are in the middle of her forehead now and crooked. I did not want her to fix it because then they would be way too short all over. There is a very slim chance I would return or refer. Again, she was a very nice person but not a good stylist-she didn’t seem to know what she was doing. I mentioned that the bangs were shorter than what I asked for and she just said she would make a note to go longer in the future. A note doesn’t help that she did not listen to begin with. I was more upset than what I let on because my 2 year old was listening. The place is super cute and my daughter enjoyed picking out her own seat and watching her favorite show. They handed her a ballon & a sucker on our way out and she felt so special.

Response from Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids

Kayla, I am glad your daughter had a good experience but sorry you were not happy with her haircut. I will discuss this issue with Hayley so she provides better consults with parents in the future to obtain the desired results. I very much appreciate your feedback and would like to offer you to bring your daughter back in for a complimentary service with one of our other stylists. Thank you again.

Had a pretty bad experience with Carly today. She did not listen to what I said. I told her we don't style his hair and she said we "need to for short hair." I said we just leave it laying down. She proceeded to cut his hair while it is swooped to the side. He sat very still and listed to her as she cut. She asked my thoughts and I straightened his hair to how it normally rests (with her trying to swoop it back immediately) and requested she straightened his bangs because they were severely uneven. She only used texture scissors to do this. I also asked her to cut a jagged piece to the side and she argued with me before cutting it. I got tired of asking her to just straighten it all out and left it. It is still uneven and now with using the texturing scissors to "even it" instead of real scissors, there is a weird spacing at the bottom of his bangs then a harsh line where it gets more dense. It is absolutely terrible. I explained we do not use product because he has sensitive skin and she proceeded to immediately ask if I want gel. I felt as though she didn't listen to a single thing I said and instead was very arrogant about how it should be. This is our 4th time here and never had any issue with them cutting his hair straight as requested. I cannot express how upset I am due to not having time to grow it out before his birthday in 3 weeks but I will do my best to straighten it out before his party.

We went in for a walk in midday and with no other kids, 2 stylist and a front desk attendant were turned away. Against our better judgement, we setup an appt 2 days later. We went in for a 30 second haircut with scissors that barely looks like he got a haircut. We will not be coming back and would rather do it ourselves than the experience. We will not be recommending anyone.

Response from Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry we could not accommodate you on Saturday but we were fully committed and waiting for the scheduled appointments to arrive. We appreciate you scheduling to come back in and we guarantee our services so please call us to reschedule for this week so we can get the desired cut for you. 480-419-2900

We were charged for a missed appointment even though the circumstances were that my child was very very sick, and we were in a crisis. At the appointment after he was better the woman was extremely rude, berating my nanny about how we should have known better to cancel.., I’m sorry ma’am but my son had a very high fever and was in the emergency room. We had been loyal customers for two years but now will Never come back.

Response from Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids

Thank you for your review. We strive for the best customer service and your nanny was politely told that we had a missed appointment that needed to be taken care of and this was done upon checkout. We know families have many things that can come up so we do not have a 24 hour cancellation notice but merely a one hour and we do keep to that for any circumstances out of fairness to our stylists. The policy is stated in all of our confirmation emails. We also call at the time of the missed appointment so the family can reach back out to us. We then send an email prior to any future visit so you are properly notified before coming back in. We are sorry if this policy does not fit your expectations and understand you would need to go to another salon. Thank you.
