Terrible experience. My son was terrified the whole time so I understand the frustration or anxiety it may bring on to the stylist but she didn’t acknowledge it making him more terrified and was rough when cutting his hair. No comfort offered or empathy, did not offer to stop to give him a moment to breathe and collect himself, ignored me when I would say things like “it’s okay if you have to stop” or “it’s okay you don’t have to use the trimmers around his hairline” and those trimmers are what caused her to cut my sons ear!! She didn’t acknowledge that either. Being a licensed cosmetologist myself, I have cut my sons hair before in the past with no problem. But I wanted yesterday to be a special moment for him with a nice haircut and ice cream afterwards which is why I chose cookie cutters for their kid friendly interior and i assumed the stylists would be kid friendly as well. but instead it ended up being 15 minutes of nonstop screaming and the stylist not helping the situation and making it worst. I felt terrible I couldn’t do anything for my 2 year old except watch and try to tell her it’s fine if it doesn’t work out. Overall I’m more upset at her lack of empathy and respect for us, i felt ignored the whole time i tried to say something to her , I told her I wanted to keep the shape of my sons hair and just trim it a LITTLE so it wouldn’t knot up so easily.. and instead she cut all of his curls and tightened the bottom so short when I wanted to keep everything longer. It wasn’t just a trim. On the phone I mentioned to the receptionist about my son having curly hair and wanting someone who had experience with cutting curly hair and I feel like I was given the complete opposite. Although the cut on my sons ear isn’t terrible I can tell it bothered him as he kept tugging at it afterwards. I’ve lost trust in anyone touching my sons hair after this experience and would never wish someone as inconsiderate as the stylist we had. And I kept apologizing for his negative reaction the whole time. I still paid and tipped $5 but honestly I don’t know if I should have even done that.
