When I arrived and was called back for my bridal updo, the hairstylist did not even know I was the bride. She asked if I was a bridesmaid. Before she started, she commented that she only had one hour. After I showed her a hairstyle that I had wanted, she told me that a lot of times in pictures like that they used extensions. I commented that I wasn't sure if my hair was long enough for it, but that I did not need that exact hairstyle, I just wanted it to be the inspiration. She half-heartedly braided a section of hair, and said that that was what they had done in the picture, but it looked nothing like the picture. I told her I didn't really like it. Instead of offering advice, or trying to come up with another way to do something similar to the hairstyle I wanted, she offered a couple hairstyles that didn't sound at all like what I wanted. One of the ones she offered, I thought was pinned up curls, which I thought might be the most similar to the windswept/not so formal style I had wanted so I agreed to it. Then, she never started pinning up the curls. The hairstylist didn't really talk at all, and I felt uncomfortable the whole time, so I just wanted to leave at that point, and maybe go somewhere else. My mom told me to have her pin up the curls, so I went back, and she was very annoyed about having to pin them up, saying that she'd offered to do it and I turned it down (completely untrue). After pinning it up, it looked better. It didn't look bad at all, but it was still not even close to the design that I'd had in mind when I walked in. I'd known the exact style might be difficult, but she did not use the picture even for inspiration. I went to the car and cried. To be fair, someone from the place offered to have me come back in and for someone else to do it, but there wasn't time at that point, and I'm never going in to Salon Rouge again after the initial experience I had on my wedding day. I looked online later so that I could remember my stylist's name, Madeline Newberry, and saw that she was on the lowest tier of experience. I had 3 other girls with me getting their hair done. There are only 2 stylists on that lowest tier. Why wouldn't they assign the bride to the person with the most experience? Why wouldn't they inform the girls styling the hair who the bride is? I have gotten updos at different locations for 2 weddings and at least 3 dances. I have never been treated the way I was treated at Salon Rouge. I will never return there. I will never recommend it to anyone. Every other updo I've gotten I felt like the stylist cared about what I wanted, and this time I felt like she just didn't give a crap. This was the worst part of my day yesterday, and no one should experience that feeling on their wedding day.

I am extremely upset after my visit to salon rouge. This is supposed to be a nicer salon and that’s why I chose it. I booked the appointment online for 1 o’clock that day. I never received a confirmation email or text a day or two before, so I called them the morning of, making sure I still had an appointment. They said yes you do at 11 o’clock. I took the day off work to accommodate this appointment and some other errands I had to take care of. This was an annoyance, but it was fine… Luckily, I called. However, no apologies, or anything else of the sort from the front desk about the miscommunication or change of my appointment time, without notifying me or confirmation. My hairdresser seemed competent enough, however, she left me sitting there for hours with foils in my hair, so she could take other customers instead of putting me under heat to process in 20-30 minutes. Then I was taken to the shampoo bowl by an assistant of some sort. She blasted me with freezing water, and when I finally said somethings, she said oh well, I can’t feel temperature on my hands… Then why would you have this person shampooing people come on?! The assistant brought out my toner to put on, and I asked her what it was. She said it was a shades toner that the stylist mixed up. I said shades does not respond to my hair well, you can’t use shades. She pulled the stylist away from her customer she was working on. Then, I told her I didn’t want shades on my hair and she kept making a lot of excuses and I just finally said, forget it whatever. So the assistant or whoever she was, who didn’t have any business, putting color on my hair, put the shades on my hair, then I found out I was being pawned off to her for a blow dry and to be cut dry by someone else they weren’t sure who yet. I found this unacceptable I had her towel dry my hair, I paid and I left. I wasted three hours, not to mention the income I lost by taking the day off work, which was substantial and my hair not only looks bad, it looks like nothing I requested even after showing two pictures. I was really looking forward to this appointment. I was really looking forward to having my hair done the way I usually wear it, since I don’t have a lot of time for that anymore. I was treated like garbage by the salon and by this hairdresser. I even have a huge bleed line from the foils right in the front of my head that I can’t hide. They knew I wasn’t happy when I left and not a single person from management, or the owner reached out to me. My hair actually looks worse than when I went to that appointment. I am so upset over this it’s not even funny.

This was the worst experience I've ever had in a salon without question. I made my appointment online weeks in advance and called the salon to 1.)describe what I needed done (lighten my hair from black to medium brown & haircut and 2.) to get a quote for the visit. She quoted me $114 for those services and confirmed my appointment with my requested stylist (Heather). However, when I arrived for the appointment, I had been assigned to a stylist that I'd never met and was told that they were "squeezing me in". I let them know that I scheduled weeks in advance and had specified who I wanted to have do my hair and they literally just shrugged it off. Since I have small children and am not able to visit the salon often, I decided to trust that the stylist was qualified and could do what I wanted. Unfortunately the young girl that worked on my hair was not qualified and was rushing around to help me and work with other clients and then told me that the cost would be $160 instead of the $114 I was quoted. When this was brought to the salon manager's attention, she immediately made it seem as if it were my fault that I received an incorrect quote over the phone, saying that they really need to see my hair before giving a quote - that is fine, and if that had been what the receptionist told me, I would have been happy to come in beforehand for a quote - however, she did give me a quote and therefore the salon should either apologize for giving wrong information or stand by the quote - not make the client feel like they are in the wrong. The stylist then proceeded to color and dry my hair and the result was a splotchy mess, there were some areas that were really light and others really dark, clear evidence that this stylist was not qualified to do this type of color job. To make matters worse, when I pointed this out to her, she said that I should just let it "settle" for a couple of days and it would all blend it. I am almost 40 and have had my hair colored many, many times, this was the craziest thing I'd ever heard. I let her know that I would not be leaving the salon looking like a leopard and that it needed to be fixed. She finally agreed and I had to undergo another color treatment just to even out the color. My hair should never look the way that it does after visiting a salon with "color experts" I would never recommend or trust this salon again. There are probably 4-5 good stylists and the rest are just kids who should not be doing complex hair appointments. In addition to the abysmal service and quality of coloring that i received, the general appearance of the salon is much worse than it was the last time I visited a year ago. The stylists used to look presentable and even fashionable, I was always impressed with how pulled together they all looked - not anymore, almost everyone looked sloppy and basically like they just rolled out of bed, including the receptionist and manager.

My hair looked almost the same when I walked out as when I walked in. Very disappointed in how much money I wasted. If the stylist didn’t understand what I wanted, she should have asked more questions.
